Lads have ye seen the new ad for sky sports with Elton John singing ‘are you ready for love’ and a bunch of women dancing around him. How is this supposed to make us want to watch soccer. Can you imagine if RTE got a gay guy singing are you ready for love and a bunch of women in Tip and Kilkenny jerseys throwing hurleys and sliotars around the place. Would that make us more interested in the match Sunday week. Give me Davy Fitz saying “I love this game to much to let anyone get to me” anyday of the week. Let’s hope sky never get their hands on the GAA. They’d probably get Graham Norton to present the Sunday game. “Oh Pat they’re a lovely pair of glasses you’ve on you tonight”

I hope that Elton John got a tonne of cash for it as it's a
woeful advert! Perhaps Sky have finally lost their touch RE:
marketing of the Premiership?

Anyone see the McGeeney advert for The Championship. He looks
like one of those statues from Easter Island. A legend.

In fairness to RTE those adverts for the championship that they have been running really make the hair stand on the back of your neck. The colour, the passion, the hits, the highs and the lows, the misses and the scores – great stuff altogether!

McGeeney is an interesting character all right. Have never met him but those who have have all remarked on his resolute single-mindedness and ambition to succeed. He appears a driven man and perhaps thats why he sometimes comes across as dour or over serious. His post-match speech last year was one of the worst I have ever heard which was surprising as I thought he'd show more emotion than he did. I have read interviews where he says his personal life has suffered because of his all-consuming interest in football. You can only hope he had a good time over the past 12 months and made a few bob to boot.

The Armagh system suits him, did you see them against Limerick, they spent most of the second half with 12 players camped behind the halfway line. McGeeney never has to mark anyone as there are so many back. He did the job for Armagh, but he will never be recognised in the same way even as a leader as say Glen Ryan. There were days when Glen Ryan almost singlehandedly carried Kildare on his back, McGeeney was never any more than one of a 15 man unit. He plays a deep wing forwards role wearing No 6 on his back. I couldnt imagine him filling the number 6 slot in a different county with a different system, say Galway, where the requirement is to hold the middle.

Fair point on the Glen Ryan call.

McGeeney is probably the first professional footballer the GAA has had with his 'job' in the Irish Sports Council

Sky's use of an overweight arse bandit seems entirely appropriate for promoting coverage of the "Premiership".

And you can also look forward to the alco wife beater Bestie doing his ananlysis on Saturday afternoons with that utterly over rated kunt...Rodneee Marsh.

What a parcel of prized kunts these fellas are.

Definitely a wrong decision to have that song and that artist...I see George Bests wife has left him after his fling with a 25 yr old blonde...

EJ is as entitled to front a campaign as the next man - he was chairman of Watford back in the early 80's so what's the problem? He's gay? Tsk tsk KF.

You said it was definitely the wrong decision to have that artist and I'm curious as to why, that's all.

Elton John is a prized tosser.

I was on holiday in France a few years ago,and spotted him playing Tennis.

"Yoo Hoo" I shouted at him,and the fat fcuker stormed off the court and refused to play any more.

Well the ad is to market Sky Sports and the demographic is primarily young males plus young women as well...Do u not think they could have picked anyone more suitable ureself??????? I think if they used Elton John 30 years then it might be relevant!!
