Did anyone see the email from the cork fella on the sunday game. It said that the clare goal should have been disallowed as all players weren't 13 yards from the freetaker. Cork people are well up on the rules of the game aren't they? This comes from a county that just won the munster football championship having broken a clear rule and then shamelessly took the title. Think back to the minor semi-final 2 years ago when they had a player yellow-carded twice and he remained on the field in a game they won by a point and then refused to a replay. I think the rest of the country is getting sick of cork arrogance and their whole attitude. They're taking over from tipp as the most arrogant and annoying county around. I'll be shouting for mayo anyway

shoebox...I presume you crawled out of one!, anyway does an email to the sunday game make you so angry as to compose a hatred of all things Cork. I am only assuming you are from/for Clare, but whatever, I could probadly say the whole country are well and truly hacked off at this stage with the (hurling invented in 95, best supporters blah blah..worlds against us...blah blah...I think my last point sums you in particular up..relax, a fecking email shouldnt bother ya, enjoy your win and be happy not a person with no humour or sense of it and stop taking life seriously. By the way was he a corkman as against a fella living in cork like brian lohan does for a living.

Cork is one county which has always/always been the most sporting, generous, and play the game. Don't anyone start with Jim Power and Ray Cummins now!! Don't paint everyone with the same brush.
I have great time for Cork teams. And, in 1995 the Cork County board invited the Clare team en masse to I forget which boxing match match was on in the Parc, after the Munster Final.

i always felt that was the case but the derry cork minor match left a sour taste and it came at a time when the precedent of teams giving replays for such things had been well established,

Orion,
I'd love to have a pint with you, and if we liked that one, I think we might have a few more. You come across as the 'sane' voice here whatever the topic. As a Galway man, let me congradulate Clare on great fighting win on Sunday. I do think Cyril Lyons came up trumps on Sunday, he seems like a nice guy, no jumping around the sideline like you know who, but head screwed on. I know you were worried about him earlier on, as I read your posts studiously. 'Twil be a great battle of minds between him and Justin in semi-final. Best to ignore these dickheads that have county bias. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Thank you for that. Some people here don't appreciate my comments, but what the hell. I must admit if I was a Galway man I would be driven mad. The amount of talent available is second to none...and, when you consider that this is a county which is highly competitive in both codes it is amazing. I think Galway needs a Loughnane type figure...I could not see to many pony tails or white boots with someone like that. Everyone talks about Galway's forwards, but the backs were very sound yesterday. Clare got a lucky goal that kept us in the game and when games get close like that some players seem to freeze. Rabbite should have been on from the start at wing forward...his fielding would have really hurt us....your forwards have great pace but are small light lads which can come against you when balls are being lorded in on backs.
It is a pity we had to cross swords early.
Lyons has learned as I think he got a lot of abuse within the county. And lets be fair, hurling is not rocket science....anyone can see what is going on. At times our selector were trying to be too clever. Hurling does not really need that. It is man against man no matter what.
McCarthy is a good coach though....he has been out of the top-level stuff for awhile and certainly given Waterford impetus. Hard to know how good Waterford really is...the side which struggled against Cork or the one which blew Tipp away?? Probably a bit of both....anyway, at least Clare is hurling into August, something a lot of people here ( a lot them Clare people it must be said ) would not have believed.

If you think Orion is the "sane voice" of this site, then you are obviously posting from a mental institution.

If you look at sport and say Cork should have granted Derry a replay, then you would never finish a championship. Did Kerry give Tipp a replay when they clearly " scored " a goal which never was in the football championship a few years back ( at a time when Tipp were playing very well )?? Would Clare have expected a replay if on sunday they had lost by a " point " which, again, never was??
Same thing with Cork....if you want to point fingers....do it at the ref? That is his job, and the linesman, who should take note of these things too. Games are won and lost on the field.

A prophet in his own land and all that. A few months ago here I was being lambasted for even suggesting Clare had a chance this summer. Clueless, blind optimism, etc., were only some of the adjectives being bandied about. Well, there are a lot of quiet boys here now ( some of whom are " Clare fans " god help us...the very ones who will be screaming blue murder if they don't get a ticket next month ).
BTW...I have not heard one peep from my nemesis: Columbia...he is my Bloefeld as I his 007!!! ( I am shaken but hardly stirred at this stage ) since Clare barely lost to Tipp in May!!!...
No sign of Limerick ( everyone's pick )or Galway....two fine sides, let me be the first to say, but need something extra.
Anyway, we will soldier on...
