Lads I know it's only Kerry we are playing but the team selection could be interesting for Sunday now that Seanie O Connor is back on the panel, Lucey is back fit and Smith suspended. Before give my team is there anyone out there that can hold a hurley, block soft shots and hit it 80 yards. If there are please make yerselves known to the Limerick selection panel as we are in need of someone to stand in goal. Anyway here's my team. 1. Timmy until something better comes along. 2. Steve McDonagh. Not great against Waterford in the replay but deserves to start ahead of Mulcahy. 3. TJ Ryan. Thought of putting Lucey back here to let TJ further up the field but will prob leave him where he is. 4. Damien Reale. Didn't impress me one bit either day against Waterford. Would want to start showing more of his 2001 form if he wants to keep his place. 5. Paudie O Dwyer. Did enough against Waterford to hold his place. Great game in the U 21s as well. 6. Ollie Moran. Played well there for Ahane yesterday. Prob his best position. 7. Mark Foley. Needs to improve from his Waterford performances if we are to have any sort of a run this year. Just a word of advice Mark, when you have the ball in your hand look up and see who's available. It may impress some of the crowd to see you baloon it aimlessly into the full forward line but it won't lead to many scores. 8. Peter Lawlor. Played well at centre back against Waterford but is prob better suited to midfield as he isn't tall enough for centre back. 9. Stephen Lucey. Could do with a hurling match against the likes of Kerry to get his sharpness back. Selectors may not start him as he will prob be missing for the next game as it is likely to clash with the football final. 10. Eoin Foley. We need half forwards who know where the posts are and Foley is def capable of scoring 3 or 4 points from play in a big game there. His sidelines are also vital. 11. Seanie O Connor. I know that he is only just back on the panel and it is unfair on those who trained all year bla bla but he is our best option at centre forward. Played well for Ahane yesterday and a game against Kerry would get him ready for tougher challenges ahead. 12. Niall Moran. Deserves to start I think. Had an ok game in the drawn game against Waterford and is likely to get better as the year goes on. 13. Shaughnessy. It says it all for the state of Limerick hurling that we missed an 18 year old so much against Waterford. I just wish the other forward would take the pressure off him so he can go out and do what he does best. 14. Begley. The best full forward we've had in ten years. Strange but true. Anyone come up with a better one?? 15. Conor Fitz. Always capable of getting scores from loose play. Is more suited to the corner than the half forward line. I don't think for a minute that this is the team that will be picked but that is the team I would pick. Whatever team they pick they should try to keep it settled for the next day. IP: Logged |

quote: Liam your team is very intresting.I agree with a lot of it except possibly eoin foley at half forward. 6,9,11 are uncertain but twp of these positions will be Lawlor and Oliie.ID play Ollie centre back with Lawlor at midfield but u wouldnt know what could happen there. any thoughts? Les I heard that Lucey didn't play for Croom at the weekend. Prob not doing too much hurling. It's hard to blame him really as he is just back from injury and is getting ready for a munster football final. Hence I would move Eoin Foley to midfield and try Jim O Brien at half forward. He won a lot of ball against Waterford the last day but did very little with it. A good game against Kerry might give him the confidence he needs. I wouldn't play Clem if he's available. He's always likely to do something stupid. The trouble with playing Ciaran is that he might get 4 or 5 points against Kerry if he played and fall flat for the rest of the year. I would use him as our impact sub for the year. Do you know what the story is with Joe? Has he got one of those mysterious injuries again or what? IP: Logged |

To be honest I think that you're fairly close to the mark there liam mac , but I'm not too happy with Paudie O' Dwyer at 5,He's a grand young fella ,but I just don't think he's up to it yet, especially when it's Eoin Folet's best position... I think!. Yes Sean O' Connor was excellent on Sunday ,and he marking 2 men for most of it ,and well, Ollie was outstanding, why do we have to keep trying to make forwards out of good backs??,And if Carey and Houlihan didn't spend the day trying to cut each others heads off we might have a better idea of how Ciaran is going .I heard that Lucey broke another finger at football training?info anyone?and someone give Clem Smith a brain. And the much maligned Barry Foley had a fine game..despite 3 shocking wides!!! He is hardly representitive of all the Limerick contributors on this site. For the record I predict no shocks and a comfy win for Limerick. its a bit unfair on timmy alright remember he is only u21 still but has been playing senior hurling for 4 years already. he is a quality keeper and will get better with time. i think there is no better goalkeeping prospect in the country at the moment (but we have high hopes for martin coleman all the same) IP: Logged |

quote: Yes,he is indeed allowed to ask the question,I just think that it is more than coincidence that it is being asked by this guy,who would like like to see his County hurlers beaten,in the mistaken belief that it will "help" the footballers. That is the context in which the question is being asked by this so called "supporter". Cheerleaders?,...I am the first one to critisize if critisizm is due,I will NOT critisize just for the sake of it...and I will certainly NOT SNEAKILY hope that our hurlers are humiliated on Saturday night like the other contributor. Can you see the difference?..it is quiet subtle... perhaps too much for you,who has proven to be a bitter Tipperary baxtard with a chip on his shoulder about Limerick. Come clean.

quote: For your information, I do not "attack certain individuals for any reason at all". I will attack people who will praise one bunch of players (footballers) ALWAYS at the expense of another bunch(HURLERS),and then professes to be a genuine Limerick supporters. Make no mistake about it,Evil Eye will be a happy man if Limerick lose on Saturday, and there are other morons like him with the same mindset. If you cannot see this, then you are a fool. IP: Logged |

I'm not a bitter man Gunther...esp when it comes to Limk...I have nothing to be bitter about!!! IP: Logged |
