What should I send to school with my child on the first day?

1. Send all school books, covered with the child's name clearly written on the outside.

2. A drink beaker with your child's name marked on it.

3. A packed lunch– something small, for example, an apple for short break and a healthy  lunchbox for big break.

4. A change of clothes in case of emergencies, for example, wetting or spillage

5. An art shirt to wear during art activities.  This can be any old adult size t-shirt/blouse which will cover your child.

Should I allow my child to watch TV before school?

It is highly recommended that a child does not watch TV before coming to school.

How do I get notes and information from school?

Please check your child's bag regularly as there may be notes/ circulars/ newsletters in it.  If possible notes will not be sent home on a Friday.

Do I need to inform the school if my child moves house?

It is very important that the school be informed of any changes to address, phone number or any contact information as we may need to contact you, for example, if your child becomes ill.

What food should I give my child for lunch?

A healthy lunch is important for your child.  Fruit, sandwiches and juices are recommended.  However, crisps, yoghurts, chewing gum and other confectionary are not allowed.  One treat is acceptable, for example, a biscuit.

How can I meet the class teacher?

Formal Parent/teacher meetings take place in February each year.  Written notice of meetings will be sent to parents.  You can make an appointment to meet with the class teacher at other times during the school year if you consider it necessary.  The teacher may also seek to meet with you.  It is important that you do not drop into the classroom for an impromptu visit as the teacher will not be able to meet you.

What is the school uniform?

For Girls: Navy blue skirt/pinafore, light blue blouse and navy cardigan, navy tie with elasticated neckband.  Runners for PE.  Uniform tracksuit for PE.

For Boys: Navy pants, light blue and navy jumper, navy tie with elasticated neckband.  Runners for PE.  Uniform tracksuit for PE.

What is school starting and finishing time?

School day begins at 9.20am.  Please allow your child to come into the classrooms on their own.

School finishes for both Junior and Senior Infants at 2.00pm and for all other classes at 3.00pm.  Children are to be collected from outside the exit gates.

What is the Witch Walk Day?

Our PTA organise an annual fundraising event for the school which involves all of the children and staff.  We all dress up and go on a sponsored walk followed by magic shows and a visit to the  haunted house which is created within the school.  It is a fun day for all.  If you would like to help out on the day you can contact the PTA.
