  A Friend from Space
by
Nicole
One night I was on my way home from my friend's house. Suddenly I froze. Just in front of me a spaceship landed. I stood there in shock with my mouth open. I must be seeing things, after all I am tired, I thought whilst rubbing my eyes. It was, it was a spaceship, a spaceship!! The bright lights turned off and the engine stopped humming. A door came out of the front and slammed on the ground. Glowing pink figures walked slowly out. They were tall, not much taller than myself. The creatures had no nose, but had big eyes, a little bigger than average size. Their heads were round and they had very thin bodies. They stretched out their arms, they had long thin fingers. I was terrified. The aliens spoke. I couldn't understand them. They retreated back sensing my fear. One alien walked into the spaceship and plugged in some sort of device and spoke into it. I could understand them this time.
One alien said "We come in peace. Do not be frightened. We seek your help. Our spaceship is faulty so we had to make an emergency landing on planet earth. We just need to repair our spaceship, and get home, will you help us?" I was really afraid but I wanted to help them.
I advanced forwards "O-O-Ok what do you need?" I replied voice trembling
"A transmitter" they said.
"Huh? A whaty what?" I asked.
"A transmitter"
They began to spell it out.
"OK! OK! I get it"
"Do you have one then?" they said.
"Erm.. no I don't think so" I replied.
"Well I guess you can't hel-"
But before they could finish the sentence I interrupted with the first thing that popped into my head.
"But I have a radio" I said.
"That will do" they said gratefully. I was surprised.
"Ok wait here" I shouted as I dashed home.
I sneaked inside, up the stairs, into my bedroom and grabbed my radio and came back out.
"I got it, I got it!" I shouted running up the road.
The Aliens glanced at me. I ran over and handed it to them. I stood back and sat on the kerb. I watched in amazement as they dismantled the radio and put it in the spaceship. One alien went inside and flipped a few switches and turned on the spaceship.
"It works, the noise is gone!" the Alien shouted joyfully.
I smiled. All the aliens came over to me and thanked me
"Anytime you are in Earth, could you visit me?" I said.
They walked into the spaceship and it took off. I watched. They were writing something in the sky it read "Thank you, Nicole". How do they know my name I wondered. I went home. As I lay in bed that night, I hoped they got home. I fell sound asleep. That's my story and I stick to it.

  Haunted House
by
Amy
One night when I was in Wicklow I went to visit a haunted jail and it had small cells. It was scary. It showed you what happened to people in the old days. It had rusty bars and unpainted walls. It was really freaky. Lauren ran out crying and I wasn't very brave myself but I stayed. I was only six years and when I looked around I was stuck in a cell with a moving statue and I started crying.

  Marooned on a Desert Island
by
Aoife
It was our second week on the desert island. My friend and I where shipwrecked on an island.
It all started when my mom said she had booked a cruise to Spain for two weeks. It would take three and a half days to get there. That meant we had a week in Spain. The ship was huge. The first day was fine. On the second day the ship went up in flames and no one knew how it started. There were hundreds of life rafts and we got one of the last ones. We could not all fit in it. So my friend and I got another one.
We were all lucky to get off but now we were stuck on this island. We have built a hut and both have a job. Sasha made weapons to hunt animals and fish and I collect coconuts and berries and we built a beacon fire. I didn't eat that much because we only really caught fish and I don't like fish. So all I've been eating is berries and coconuts. On the third week we saw a plane but they did not see us. On the fourth week finally we saw a rescue boat. They caught sight of our beacon fire and rescued us. We won't be going on a cruise for a long long time again.

  Gaelic

Michael By
St Marys was the team I joined
For it was something that was on my mind
I'm so passionate about Gaelic football

When we meet in the hall I cannot
Wait to get out and kick that football
I'm so passionate about Gaelic football

When I see that ball going over the bar
I dream that I will go far
The love of the game will stay with me
I'm so passionate about Gaelic football

  Good Decision
by
Oleg
I made a very good decision to play golf because when I grow up I could be a professional golfer and teach other players to help them win matches or I could play tournaments to get lots of money if I come first.
When I was six here in Ireland my father encouraged me to play golf. There were two golf clubs to play with left and right. So I played both of them and I thought the right is much easier to play than the left.
My Mam and Dad play golf as well as me. I go to the matches they play. My Mam plays with the right club and my Dad plays with the left. Sometimes it is very hard to play when it's a wet day because the ball is too hard to find. So I made a very good decision to play golf.

  Should homework be abolished?
by
Nicole
Well I can think of a million zillion billion reasons why homework should be abolished, now come on who would blame me? I think homework should be abolished most definitely!! We spend six hours in school five days a week reading, writing and learning. Then we come home and have at least another hour doing more reading, writing and learning. In the winter it's dark before we have our homework finished so we can't even go outside. It's a well known fact that everybody needs exercise to keep healthy, and teachers are always telling us to keep fit and healthy, so it can't be our fault if we don't get out, blame it on the homework. Also, we spend six hours in school and our brain is tired of the work, so we're not able to concentrate, I even have a sore hand sometimes from writing. If you have after school activities like music, football or drama you might not be finished your homework to at least 8 o'clock at night, and you might be rushing and it could be wrong.
I don't think homework should be abolished because it will help you learn stuff for yourself without any teachers help. Homework is needed to help you study for your entrance exam, junior cert and your leaving cert; it will help you later on in life, when you're looking for a good job. Basically, it teaches responsibility, and the teacher if everyone did homework, there wouldn't be as much interruption in class because people didn't do it and we would have more time to learn. On the cold dark evenings, it keeps you going and helps you to have something to do, because it's normally dark and cold in the winter, and you can't go outside. When you go out to work, it has prepared you to work by yourself and use you own intelligence.

  A Letter
by
Penuel
  Dear Mr Armstrong,
My name is Penuel. I'm a 6th class pupil at Holy Family N.S .in Rathcoole. I am very interested in space and I watched the film of you landing on the moon many times. When I grow-up I would like to be an astronaut. My favourite books are about space.
I would really love it if you could visit my class. I know you're probably a busy man. If you ever come to Ireland do you think you could visit my class? It would be a great surprise for my school friends. I wouldn't say a word until you would arrive. It would be such a cool thing and I would feel great having organised it.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Penuel

  The War
by
Niall
  It was a snowy storm
That came at night
No heat to be warm
Not even a light.

The siren went on
All our troops were alert
We ran out of our tents
While running in the dirt

Help!Help!
We heard everywhere
While bullets were shot
Through the thick air.

I got shot in the leg
And I fell to the ground
I crawled into the forest
Without making a sound.

I heard a sound nearby
I went and checked it out
It sounded like a shout
Or a cry for help.

It turned out to be a rescue team
That came from the south.

  Haunted House
by
Niamh
My three friends and I were walking home from school when we noticed the old, uneven lane leading up to our houses was blocked by road works. "We should take the short cut through old Mr Campbell's house." said Phoebe, who was the oldest. "Will he mind?" asked Richard, who was the youngest. "Who?" asked Wayne. "Old Mr Campbell." answered Richard. "He's been dead for six years, silly. Now his house is abandoned." I said.
So we made our way towards the house. The house was built on a cliff. The house itself was huge, it was in a field the border was a three foot hedge. The house was spread from one side of the field to the other. So the only way to get to the back of the house was to go through the house.
The door was an old, wooden one with splinters sticking out of it. "You first Niamh." said Phoebe. I gulped. "Okay." I muttered, pushing the door open. The hall had a huge golden chandelier hanging from the ceiling. The fireplace had ashes pouring out of it, just above the fireplace there were about ten pictures hanging from the wall. The stairs was at the back of the room and had a crimson carpet going up it. Phoebe had to do a project in school about what she did during that week and she thought it would be good if she took pictures, so it just so happened she had a digital camera with her. She took a photo and I went over to have a look. It was very clear even though the hall was dark.
We went further into the house when we noticed a door with a sign saying 'Keep Out', the door had an old rusty lock on it. "Has anyone got a hair pin?" asked Wayne. "Yes, I do." replied Phoebe whilst taking it out of her hair, and giving it to him. Wayne unlocked the door and gasped. I didn't get to see what was in that room, we all just ran, Phoebe managed to take a photo.
When we got back to my house and told my mam that old Mr Campbell's house was haunted. We showed her the pictures but they changed from being very clear to blurry. No one believed our story but you do. Don't you?

  Ghosts, Ghouls and my Brothers
by
Michael B
Ghosts creeping through the night haunting
Your every dream,
When they catch you off your Guard,
They'll try to make you scream.

Ghouls going everywhere screaming
"HOO HA HA"
But when you walk straight into one,
You'll wish you had a car.

Ghosts, Ghouls and my Brothers,
Go and try to live with one,
And I think you'll go insane.

  Haunted House
by
Robert M
One day I said I'll go for a walk. I was walking through an abandoned housing estate. I went over to one house and over the door it said it had been built in 1802. DO NOT ENTER! so I went in.
I opened the door and went into a little hall. When I looked around there was nothing just an empty room so I opened another door. There was a table stretching to the other end of the room to a staircase. On my left there was a fireplace, I looked up and there was a chandelier covered in spider webs.
I went to the other end of the room and went up the stairs but on my way up I saw a person shaped shadow saying OOOOOOOOOOOOO! I shouted GOASY AAAA! I ran out of the house and never came back.

  The Year 2107
by
Lauren
  Dear diary,
Today is the 25th of June and we are on our summer holiday!!! Well for the first day of my summer holidays Nicole, Aisling, Chloe and I are going to the park to try out my new hover board. They all have their own stuff.
Oh and there's a match in the stadium, I think it's for air ball or something. Yesterday the teleportation tube nearly broke because the dog that was flying his board lost control and crashed. Everything was fine the tube was ok.
Then the monitor beeped to tell me someone had arrived at the teleportation tube.
"I'll get it" I said, I ran down the stairs.
"Open" the door slid right before my eyes.
Nicole, Aisling and Chloe were standing at my door. Nicole with her blaster blades, Aisling with her shooter scooter, Chloe had her master blaster 4000 and I had my hover board. Off we went to the park. After a while we went to the air ball game, the blue cows won!!! I couldn't even if I tried to play air ball. I would be a disaster as if I could get up in the air without falling flat on my face. Well that's all for today!!!

  A Book I Enjoyed
by
Alex
A book I enjoyed is "The Twits". It is written by Roald Dahl. It is about two wicked, cruel, ugly people named Mr Twit and Mrs Twit. They play many horrible practical jokes, such as putting frogs in each others beds or putting worms in the other ones spaghetti.
Mr Twit is a man who isn't too fond of cleaning himself, especially his beard. If ever there was something you wanted (or to get sick at the sight of) just go to Mr Twit's beard. In this horrible beard he keeps things like scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, corn flakes and everything else he had to eat that day.( basically everything but the kitchen sink)
Then there is Mrs Twit with her repulsive face, glass eye and hair that looks like it's been cut by a lawnmower, she isn't exactly the nicest thing to see. Mrs Twit carries a cane. She says that this is because she has a large boil on her foot, but the truth is that she just likes hitting children with it.
My favourite character is Mugglewump the monkey (Mr Twit's circus pet) because he is so clever. My favourite part is when Mugglewump, his family and friends change the Twits view of the world completely upside down. They glue all the furniture in the house to the ceiling and then put some glue on both of their heads. When they come in they notice the furniture upside down on the ceiling. They figure that if they stand on their heads everything will be all right but of course when they do they are stuck to the ceiling.
I would definitely recommend the Twits.

  Love
by
Reece
When love is in the air,
You always want to care.
Now this is quite a sight,
Your dogs don't bark at night.
Love does strange things,
People get treated like queens and kings.
When you're in love you stay at bay,
All of your problems go away.
I know where it comes from
I mean love,
It comes from God In heaven above.
Even when love is in the air,
Please won't you continue to care.

  A Strange Dream
by
Barbara
  One Summer's day
I was walking in a field
Full of flowers then I fell down a hole.
I found myself in a strange land
Then I saw an army of little people
I nearly stood on one or two of them.
I thought to myself "Is this strange or what"
Next they tried to get me down.
They did and I was tied down.
Some of them sat on me.
I was struggling
To break free.

  Back in Time
by
Stephen
If I had a chance to back in time I would go back to 2004 to my 10th birthday when I went to Anfield to see Liverpool play Norwich city. I would like to see the three goals scored against Norwich from the Kop Granstand South. I would also like to go back to Liverpool to meet Stephen Gerrard in the Anfield carpark. If I had a chance to go back I definitely would.

  Decision
by
Jamie
It happened on a Friday night 2 weeks ago. I was with two of my friends and we were walking around the estate talking about what we would do for the weekend. One of my friends said we should do a nick-nack like they had done last week.
We found a house on a corner with good hiding places. I rang the door bell and hid behind a car but the man in the house came out and found me. He asked me who I was and where I lived. He said he was very angry and wanted to speak to my parents. We walked down to my house and told my dad what had happened. My dad said I would be punished He sent me to my room and I got grounded for a week.
I know now that I made the wrong decision because I would not like people knocking on my door.

  The Decision
by
Lee Mc
One day I had to make a decision.
When I went to Florida (USA) we went to a place called Discovery Cove . This place had people swimming with fishes, rays etc but the best of all were the dolphins. This was our last day. First of all it was plain water, then we went to the fishes. After that we went to the rays and finally it was dolphins. At first I was nervous because I had to go out to 15 feet deep water. When I got into the water I was really scared . When I grabbed onto the dolphins fin and the woman said go I had the best time of my life.
So if you have a once in a lifetime opportunity like me, do it.

  Back in Time
by
Ricardo
If I could ever go back in time I would go to see the 'Mary Celeste' and go to hide aboard to see what happened to Captain Briggs and his crew. I wonder why the ship was abandoned when it was in good seaworthy condition.
A story I heard is that all the guns were covered in blood and the captain's breakfast was untouched. As I go back in time I hope to answer what happened on the 'Mary Celeste'.
As we reach Azores on the 25th of November this is the day the crew and the captain are supposed to have disappeared. I cannot stay for long as I do not wish to suffer the same fate as the crew. If I did stay on board I would have found out a truly great mystery. If I was ever to find a way to travel back in time, I would have gone and have stayed aboard the 'Mary Celeste' and found out what happened to the crew.

  Haunted House
by
Shannon
I ran from school as the rain poured down. I thought I would ask to use someone's house phone to call home, for I was thinking about going to my friends. I ran thorough the garden of an old looking house. I knocked on the door. No answer. The rain had got worse as I stood at the gray door, that seemed years old. I pushed open the door and walked in.
"Hello?" I said in the empty hallway. My voice echoed around the room. I stood at the end of the old and rusty staircase. I suddenly heard a noise from upstairs. I slowly walked up the stairs. I got upstairs. I looked around, as I got closer to the door at the end of the hallway. The noise got louder. I stared at the black varnished doorknob. I slowly turned the knob. "Hello?" I said entering the room. I looked around the room. It's pretty plain. A bed, a wardrobe, and at the end of the bed a big chest. I walked over to the chest. The noise seemed to turn into a high pitched screech. I slowly opened the chest. Bats came flying out. "Ahhh!" I shouted. The bats flew out the door.
I knelt down to look inside the chest. I picked out what seemed to be a diary. I looked to see if anyone was there. There was no one, so I started to read the diary, and it read "It's been a year now. I still feel My family and ancestors are haunting me. This house is haunted!".
"Ahhh!" I shouted dropping the diary. I ran down the stairs and out of the house. The door slammed itself shut. I ran all the way home in the lashing rain.
