EYE OF THE BLINKIE

HOOTEYE OCTOBER 2008

The purpose of this Tutorial is to show in easy steps how to
create a 4 frame Blinkie animation, emanating from the centre

As demonstrated in some of my other Tuts, we will again be using Brush Tips and Grid
Lines as far as I know I am the originator for making animations using this concept

To see how the Eye Blinkie Brush Tips used in this Tutorial
were made, check out my Eye Blinkie Brush tips Tutorial here

This Tutorial was wrote for Paint Shop Pro X, but I have also tested it in
PSP 8, any resemblance to any other Tut on the web is purely coincidental.

After working through this Tutorial you should end up with this type of result

OK here we go

( REMEMBER TO SAVE REGULARLY)

STEP (1)

Download the Eye Blinkie Brush Tips File here

There are no restrictions on my Brush Tips, but if you
share this file would you kindly keep my file name intact.

STEP (2)

Right click on the file and open it with your version of PSP, then arrange your Layer Palette like this

NEXT

On the overhead bar go to File and in its drop-down menu, click on Export/Custom/Brush

This Create Brush Tip Box will appear, name your Brush Tip, 1 Cross B, and click OK

Following the Layer settings shown below, create and export the
other 3 Brush Tips naming them 2 Cross B, 3 Cross B, and 4 Cross B,

Go to the Toolbar and select the Paint Brush Tool, then go to the Brush
Tip drop-down list, your 4 Brush Tips should now be showing like this

We have now finished with this Document, save it, then
close it by clicking the red X on its top right corner

STEP (3)

On the Overhead Bar go to File, and in its drop-down menu, click New,
when its pop-up box appears, create a new 500 x 500 pixels Document
with a background of your choice, you can if you wish use this one

NEXT

Go to your Layer Palette, make sure the Layer is named Background, then create four
Rasher Layers, they will automatically be named Rasher 1, Rasher 2, Rasher 3, and Rasher 4,

STEP(4)

Go to the Overhead Bar, then go to View and in its drop-down menu, tick Grid and Snap to Grid

Note:- Your animation will result in being jumpy, if the Snap to Grid is not on

NEXT

Again go to View and in its drop-down menu, click on Change Grid, Guide & Snap Properties,
when the pop-up box appears make these settings, (the Grid color is optional)

Your Document should now look like this

STEP(5)

Go to the Toolbar and select the Paint Brush Tool, then go to the
overhead Brush Tip drop down list, and select 1 Cross B, Brush Tip

NEXT

Go to the overhead Brush Tip Bar, and make these settings

NEXT

Go to your Material Palette and select a Foreground color of your choice, I used yellow

NEXT

Go to your Layer Palette and select Rasher 1 Layer

NEXT

Go to your Document, and where the Grid lines cross, click your little Paint
Brush icon (once only), the 1 Cross B, Brush Tip will accurately snap into position

NEXT

With Rasher 1 Layer still selected, go back to the overhead Brush Tip Bar, and set the rotation to 10

NEXT

Go back to your Document, and click-paint where the Grid lines cross
(once only) again your 1 Cross B, Brush Tip will snap into position

NEXT

Still on Rasher 1 Layer, continue to click paint your Document
using these rotation settings 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80,

Your Document should now look like this

We now need to apply these settings to Rasher Layers 2, 3, and 4, which are :-

Select Rasher 2, Layer, and 2 Cross B, Brush Tip, size it to 400,
rotation settings, 0, 10. 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80,

Select Rasher 3, Layer, and 3 Cross B, Brush Tip, size it to 400,
rotation settings, 0, 10. 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80,

Select Rasher 4 Layer, and 4 Cross B, Brush Tip, size it to 400,
rotation settings, 0, 10. 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, and 80,

That's it we are done, all you need to do now is take your Layers into Animation Shop.

The display time for all frames should be set for 1
