District Awards 2005.
Mick Walsh was the Coiste na nOg recipient.
Mick has been involved with the senior footballers for the past five years and is the current manager.
He played for many years with his native St. James before getting involved at under 12 level in 1988. He was selector with many winning underage teams the most notable being the winning of the Jim Byrne Cup and Minor Football Premier Championship double in 1993, 1995 and 1996.

Dick Shannon was the GAA club's recipient at the ACC Awards in the Horse and Hound on Mar. 4th. Dick played underage hurling with the St. Patrick's club in Ballysop and won an under 16 County Title in 1958. When the club disbanded in 1960 he played with Horeswood and was a forward on the Senior Hurling team beaten by Oylegate in the 1963 County Final. A very skilful hurler he represented Wexford at minor level in 1960 He played at left half forward on the Wexford Senior team beaten by Tipperary in the 1965 All Ireland Final and was a sub on the Leinster team which won that year's Railway Cup. In 1967 he won a National Legaue medal. he played hurling and football with the club for many years and is one of the club's trustees.

DEVELOPMENT and PLANNING COURSE

Tutors Seamus O'Leary and Fintan Whyte facilitated the development and Planning course in Scoil Mhuire on Mon. Mar7th. Twenty one people attended and it involved an in-depth and critical analysis of dfferent aspects of running a club. The group was divided into three sub groups and each has to examine a specific area and type up a response to a questionaire before the tutors return on Mar. 21st. After that a planning and development programme will be drawn up and submitted to the county Development Officer, Rory Murphy. Historical Calendar 2005.

The Horeswood Historical Calendar for 2005 is now on sale at €10.This is the third calendar produced by Coiste na nOg and Horeswood Historical Society and features almost 60 old photographs with interesting snippets of history. It includes old school photographs from Aclare, Ballykelly, Horeswood and Killesk, the 6 Great Houses in the parish, presentation of pins to Horeswood and Ballykelly pioneers in 1975 and a page of well known characters. Calendars are available in local shops or from Tom Grennan 051 388251 or Denis Cadogan 051 388352. The other members of the publication committee were John Flynn, Willie Tector and Michael Walsh, Ballyvelig.

A new and unique venture is being undertaken this year. Every household in the parish will be circulated shortly about a pictorial history of families in Horeswood parish 2005. They will be asked to submit a photograph of their family (deceased members may also be included), and give a brief history of the family. Photos can also be put on floppy disc , CD or emailed. Anyone wishing to be included in the book which will be launched next November must return relevant information with €10 before the end of May to Tom Grennan or Denis Cadogan.

Campile Pantomime 2005

This years production of Jack and the Beanstalk was staged in Campile Hall the last weekend in January and was a great success playing to full houses for four nights. A matinee, with proceeds going to the new Hall committee was held on the Sunday afternoon and attracted a good crowd.

Under 16 Football County Final Div. 2

The Under 16 Footballers united with Cushinstown (Fr. Grennans) gave a great display in the county semi-final recently beating Volunteers 4-10 to 3-12. They drew with Ferns 1-7 each in the County Final in St. Patricks Park on Thurs May 27th .In the replay will be in Wexford Park on Mon. July 5th at 8 p.m. they were beaten 3-13 to 1-7

FEILE CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to the Under 14 Hurlers on winning Div. one of the Feile. The campaign began in Mersheen when they beat the home side 1-1 to 0-0, Gusserane 4-4 to 0-0 and Fethard by 3-3 to 0-1. In the next stage in Taghmon they beta Our Lady's Island 4-4 to 1-2 and Taghmon 1-5 to 1-2 to qualify for the fianl in St. Patrick's Park. They gave a fine display to win 1-7 to 0-1.

ACC Awards:
Jack Forristal was the club's ACC awards recipient at a Dinner Dance in the Horse and Hound on Fri. Feb. 20th. Jack played at centre forward on the Junior Football team which beat Starlights in the 1951 County Final. He also played Junior and Senior Hurling in the 1950's. He served as Chaiman of the Fotball Club from 1973 to 1976 and is presently a trustee of the club.
