Dear Parents/ Guardians,
The past two months appear to have sneaked past and mid-term
is almost upon us!
We have capitalised on the dry, warm spell
of the
past weeks with lots of visits to the JFK Arboretum for
outdoor activity and Environmental studies. Midterm runs
from October 26th – 30th with
children returning to school on the 2nd
November.
Games
fundraiser.
On
Friday 23rd October we are having a novel
mini- fundraiser in aid of the Day Care Bus Appeal in
New Ross. We are having an afternoon of Board Games (no
Gameboy or Nintendo games!) whereby the children bring
in their own board games and spend the afternoon playing
and sharing them with classmates.Junior and Senior
Infants will have games organised for them so they
needn’t bring in games. All children are asked to pay
€2 to participate in the event. We have chosen this
charity as Martina McKinstry, one of our parents is Day
Care manager.
Christmas
Concert
As
soon as we return to school in November we will be
starting rehearsals for our Christmas Concert. The
concert will run over two nights Dec 2nd and
3rd in Campile Hall at 7.30pm . Tickets will
be sold through Ann in the office and as with previous
years tickets will be allocated on a limited basis
first. Further details after mid-term.
Shoebox
Appeal
As
mentioned at the Parents Association AGM some concern
has been raised about the Shoebox Appeal in the media.
Mrs O Hanlon (who organises collection of the boxes for
us) has received assurances that the boxes leaving
Ireland reach needy children throughout the world. We
have decided to go ahead with the appeal this year as it
is very much in the spirit of Christmas to have children
think about those less fortunate around the world.
Leaflets are being distributed with this newsletter.
Girl’s
Football Final
The
Girls Rackard League Football team under the guidance of
Mrs Kavanagh and Ms Walsh will take on the Mercy,
John’s Road Wexford in the County B Final this
Thursday 22nd October in Taghmon at 5.15pm.
The girls have had a great run of victories over the
past month and we wish them well in the final.
