Poem by Louise in Senior Infants: 2006

There was a cat
His name was Pat
Who was very fat
From eating rats
He sat on
 the mat
    With the
   Bat!

Rags the Dog by Olivia Senior Infants 10/2/06

Rags is a dog
He ran and ran
He ran on a hat
He ran on a mat
He ran by a can and a van
I like Rags!

 Poems from 6th class
On That Day

A crash,a bang,a boom so loud,
A shudder of shock ran through the crowd.
People's screams and firemen's shouts
"Don't worry, we'll get those people out".

Then all of a sudden, the second plane struck,
And many of the people inside were stuck.
They couldn't get out; there was no way.
All anyone did that day was pray.

And just when we thought the worst had been done,
Something happened to tower number one.
It just collapsed and no one knows why
All those innocent people had to die.

But that was not all that happened that day,
Two planes crashed, not far away.
Into the Pentagon and staright into the ground.
And on that day there was no joy to be found.

On that day 3,000 were killed
And all our eyes with tears were filled,
And for those people, their families, their friends,
And pray a prayer for war to end.

Poems on the theme of "Caring for Others" by 6th Class

Caring for Others
Caring for others,
For your sisters and brothers,
It's a brilliant thing to do,
And they'll always remember you.

Caring for others,
For your fathers and mothers,
Washing,tidying, keeping everything clean,
Instead of not doing it and being very mean.

It's a great thing to do,
The way your mum cares for you,
Care for your friend,
A pencil or rubber you could lend.

Give a little smile,
Or give a little wave,
And a nice new friend
you will have made.

So always be happy,
And always be nice too,
'Cos would you like someone
To come and bully you.
by Avril M

Caring for others in the third world.

Trócaire,Oxfam and goal,
Are helpers to the poor,
They give them food and money,
When they could just shut the door.

Some people give donations,
Some are big and some are small,
But everything is welcome,
Because a little goes to all

Caring for the less fortunate
Is a very good thing to do,
If things had been a little different,
The poor person could be YOU.

 Racism

Racism was popular
And still is a bit today
It was especially popular
In the U.S.A.

But then came a man
A very great man indeed
He helped all Americans
To live up to their creed

His name was Martin Luther King
He made a famous speech
And to discriminated blacks,
Was whom he used to preach.

On the 15th of January
We honour this great man
We should all join in the fight
Against racism as much as we can.

Caring for others
It's a great thing to do.
You should care for others,
Like people care for you.

We gave €2,000 to the Special Olympics,
To two disabled athletes,
It will help them to train
And keep them on their feet.

We also did a project,
For poor little boys and girls,
We sent them each a shoebox
A shoebox full of toys.

Caring for others
is a great thing to do
When you care for others
Your kindness will come back to you.
by Darren N.

Special Olympics
Caring for others is a wonderful thing
Caring for others like Martin Luther King
Caring for others elderly and all
We help them out when they give us a call.

Caring for others every day
Caring for others in every single way
Special olympics are coming this year
Give the athletes confidence, reduce their fear.

Guatemala is coming to our local town
Smile at the athletes please don't frown
Show them the Irish people are proud if them
Show them we love them where ever they're from.
