ADSDAQ - The Banners That Pay! News Tiberian Sun Gold - 16th July 2000 The recently created Tiberian Sun Gold is now available for download (get it in Mods - only ~750kb). It offers some excellent new multiplayer features. You can now queue up to ten units for example. And you can now have up to three Cyborg Commandos or Mammoth Mk. IIs at once, but their armour has been decreased. Starting money can be increased from 10,000 to 20,000 credits. And you will certainly need the extra funds for the amount of new units and structures. Nod certainly got the pick of the infantry litter with units such as the Saboteur, Laser Troopers, Heavy Weapons Commando and Chem Spray Infantry. Nod vehicles include the Laser Tank, a speedy Subterranean Harvester and a Mole tank which looks very similar to the Heavy Tank in Red Alert, as well as many many more. GDI's array is even more unique. Vaporizer Tanks have the ability to quickly melt any unit it comes into contact with. A Unit Paralyser can give a small EMP blast, freezing any units (including itself) nearby. The classic Mammoth tank from C&C and RA is now able to hover and nuzzle into the ground like the Tick Tank. If you found the old Harvesters a little slow then Hover Harvesters will be handy. The most prominent infantry unit for GDI is probably the Flamethrower but Umagon is also now available. A new plugin for the Upgrade Centre called the Plutonium Power Plug gives the power of several Advanced Power Plants - just make sure no one blows it up. One small annoyance with TS Gold is the fact that the new units use the same pictures in the unit/structure interface as the old ones - even though they look completely different. To install the Mod simply drag the .exe file into your Tiberian Sun folder (default C:\Westwood\Tiberian Sun) and open it. C&C Red Alert 2 (First Look!) - 16th June 2000
The game itself looks...well...weird. Kind of like Red Alert but much more high tech. More screenshots are available in the Gallery. It uses a modified Tiberian Sun engine with some elements missing to speed up play. Voxels are not used, their will not be deformable terrain and several others things will be removed or improved.
Unlike Tiberian Sun, Red Alert 2 will continue with the idea of Naval Warfare, but extending it to allow nature play a part. The Allies will be armed with carriers and subs and also receive the help of specially armed dolphins. The Soviets will get the help of giant squids which are able to trap enemy ships. The view is fixed isometric as in Tiberian Sun which may be a bit of a backwards step, especially considering the success 3D RTS is having in games such as Ground Control. We're Back! - 16th June 2000 After nearly five months without an update the ccindex.com is about to enter the second phase of its construction: making it the most comprehensive C&C site on the net. Over the coming months we hope to bring you the latest and best, and finish up the huge backlog (such as guidelines, FAQ, gallery) and also a few more little surprises! New faster loading graphics and other minor tweaks will also be worked upon. So stick with us as we move onwards and upwards. Remember; no other site comes close. Command & Conquer: Renegade (First Look!) - 28th December 1999
Although it will be an action shoot ‘em up game you will be able to incorporate your C&C knowledge in the game. For instance if an obelisk is in your way you can blow up the power plants to knock it offline. Also available are the vehicles from C&C, such as the attack cycle, buggy, flame tank and orca fighter all of which you will be able to drive. Westwood have spent two years on the graphics engine making it really seem as if you're in the middle of a heated C&C style battle. Visit the Gallery for screen shots of this great game. Estimated minimum specs are P266 and 3D accelerator. Release date is hoped for September 2000. C&C: Firestorm - 27th December 1999 Not only are Westwood releasing C&C: Renegade but a mission new pack for Tiberian Sun set for release in February 2000. Tiberian Sun: Firestorm will feature18 new missions and several new units including the Cyborg Reaper (fires two multi-missiles which explode in the air, showering little mini-bombs on the target). Firestorm continues on from the end of Tiberian Sun, Slavik brings CABAL back to life, again attempting to fire Nod's tiberium missile with the GDI trying to stop him. A new multi-player addition called World Domination will allow thousands of online players to scrap it out over a ladder system. The Future of Command and Conquer - 31st August 1999 Ok, C&C 2: Tiberian Sun has been finally released and it is an amazing game so what's in store for us in the future? Will Westwood continue to make the best RTS games in the world for us to play or are they finished with it all? Brett Sperry, the executive producer for Tiberian Sun says we are in for at least two more Command and Conquer games to fully finish the story. The first one is to be given the name Tiberian Twilight but the name could easily change as it is very early on. Westwood are confident that we wont be waiting another four years for it to arrive like we did with TS. The new game should feature an entirely new technology and visual base along with a 3D, third person view to give you the feel of the battlefield. What will the story be about? Who knows. Maybe it will continue the war between GDI and NOD or throw us back to Red Alert to do battle with Hitler who may not have died when Einstein displaced him into the time continuum. Whatever it is, it is sure to be a great game and rest assured that Tiberian Sun will keep you busy until then. New Tiberian Sun EVA - 11th August 1999 The GDI and the Brotherhood of NOD both have different interface voices. The GDI remain with Eva, from Command & Conquer and NOD have a computer male voice called CABAL (Computer Assisted Bio-engineered Artificial Life-form). Eva now has an improved vocabulary like targeting commands and warning lines. She no longer says the dreaded "Our base is under attack" line, but will tell you exactly what is being attacked. This could save precious seconds as you scroll around the base looking for the enemy. Or if you are in the middle of a fierce battle and there is just one infantry man attacking a component towers you need not bother go all the back to your base to check out what's going on. NOD's CABAL has the same skills as Eva but will also go a little bit further. He will offer tactics to help you in your current situation and combat plans during a skirmish. Sometimes he will even comment on your performance and ridicule you when you loose a battle or leave something undefended. Tiberian Sun Released Date Confirmed - 6th August 1999 Tiberian Sun is finished and the final release date is the 27th August. Be sure to have £40 by then because, well because it is the sequel to Command & Conquer, and is the worlds most awaited game ever. Zip over to the Tiberian Sun Review to hear about how well it plays, looks and sounds. Thankfully it is not considerably different from Red Alert or C&C. Of course there are new units, better graphics, and better AI but it preserves all the best bits of both and restored the magic feel of the cut scenes in the original that were somehow lost in Red Alert. The Forgotten sometimes pop by to assist or pester you. Occasionally they will arrive in old, battered, Red Alert vehicles which bring a tear to your eye. The Mammoth Tank has been remade with legs! These are called Mammoth MK II's and are so tough you are only allowed to have one at a time. The equivalent for the Commando/Tanya is the Ghost Stalker for the GDI and the Cyborg Commando for the NOD. Like the Mammoth 'Tank', you are only allowed one of these a time. The minimum system is a P166, 32RAM. It runs a bit slowly in congested battles but it should definitely not put you off buying the game if your interested. A P266 is recommended, with which it will run like a dream. Tiberium Chronology - 30th July 1999 During the original Command and Conquer the GDI were so interested in destroying the Brotherhood of NOD that they did not notice the destructive effects Tiberium was having on the world. It was spreading like the plague, pillaging landscapes, destroying cities and ruining environments throughout the world. It was not until after the war that they began to worry about Tiberium, then thought to simply be an excellent source of energy, and its effects on the earth. Now, fifteen years after the end of the original C&C, Tiberium has engulfed most temperate zones on the earth. Deserts and Tundra are still unaffected by it. Tiberium brings out drastic mutations in all living creatures. Most do not survive the transformations Tiberium brings about. The GDI must evacuate entire, Tiberium infested, cities to protect them from its terrible side effects. In the meantime Kane, thought to have died fifteen years earlier, has been remaking his Brotherhood who have hidden in underground bases and are conducting experiments on Tiberium mutations on humans. These people are the Forgotten, a people who have adapted to the effects of Tiberium and have enhanced combat skills due to their exposure. The Forgotten are enemies of both NOD, for carrying out the tests on them and of the GDI because of their questionable ethics on who gets evacuated and who stays behind. Tiberian Sun Preview - 23nd July 1999 Probably the most anticipated game of all time is just around the corner. Westwood's Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun is, at the moment, scheduled for a September release and this date seems realistic, forgetting the million times it was delayed. Westwood were adding the lovely touches like unit balance and excellent map design like only they know how. The game itself will consist of 50 missions between the Global Defence Initiative (GDI) and the Brotherhood of NOD. Roomers say there will be other opponents called the Forgotten, a race of people who were GDI soldiers and were captured by the Brotherhood of NOD who did tests on them to make into a kind of super-soldier. The tests went bad and the people were forgotten about (hence the name) These people are enemies to both GDI and NOD. There could also be aliens who supposedly crashed on earth (you may have seen the wreckage of an alien spacecraft in the original C&C) and the Brotherhood of NOD used their alien technology to create a fighter plane. The minimum system requirements are estimated to be a P133 with no need for any 3D card. Visit the Gallery for screen shots of this great game.
