Twixt

Twixt is a board game from 1963 made by 3M company. Its is a strategy game that involves connecting one side of a board to the other by bridges. The players do this by placeing pegs on the board and then if possible linking the pegs. The pegs must be linked on a 2 by 1 diagonal.

This page is about a version that I wrote as a 3rd year computer engineering project. The application is written in java and the full source and application are available here for download.

The game supports networked games aswell as two player games on the same computer. To create a network game just choose lan game from the main menu and then create a server. Other players can connect to the server and play you. Players can search for active servers.

The background on the main menu is created with an effect called metaballs. There is source for this effect also on this website under the metaballs section of projects.
