Text Box: Midland dispute
The midland gave 5 months notice of with drawl of on-call. Went to LRC with no result and on-call was stopped on the 9th Dec 2003. The E.M.T.’s in the midlands had no problems with the army but huge problem with the use of private ambulance, after ambulance service management giving assurance they would not use privates. (They sent a letter to the heads of department to advise the hospital to call the privates themselves. In January they went to the Labour Court but would not talk under a binging recommendation. As the grievance procedure 1997 agreement had be pull due to the situation in the North East we were not bound to go into a binding adjudication. Remember part of getting rid of a

Text Box: It is hopped to have at least 4 newsletters a year. These will not be official minutes but information of issue discusses and other news. Please check all detail with IARC reps before quoting form the newsletter. If you know of a station, which has not received a copy of, the newsletter please let your rep know or e-mail me at iarc@eircom.net.

Text Box: Benchmarking.
A national meeting of all shop stewards will be held on February 8th in Athlone. This is to follow on form the first meeting we had at national level to discuss this issue. We hope to have some idea of how national talks are going by that stage. As most know by know a provisional agreement on the next PPF has been agreed. Rough estimates are down further in the newsletter.

Text Box: Review of 2002-
In 2002 we had the results of much hard work over the previous year with the report of the benchmarking which reiterated what we have been saying about our basic pay. We do hear you in relation to the time it is taking to pay it and how if the time is extended it will be eaten up by inflation. More about this below. The process of a grading review was started and is due to report back shortly which is binding to both parties. A survey was taken of E.M.T.’s by the I.A.R.C. the first of It’s kind and this information will help us and with another in a few years will paint us a distinct picture of many aspects of the ambulance service.
Text Box: 2003
It is hopped that in 2003 we will increase information to and from each station. To do this we need information from each shop steward. In stations without shop stewards we are looking for a contact. To this end please fill out the form with this newsletter.
