Iniscealtra Sailing Club Newsletter
October 2000

Dear Members

Another sailing year is drawing to a close. Racing concludes on Sunday Oct 29th. Lift-out is scheduled for Saturday Nov 4th. Our Dinner Dance has been arranged for Saturday Nov 18th in the Kincora Hall.

Racing

We have had an excellent racing season. A lot of credit is due to the work of Sean Collins who did a great job in organising the racing calendar, the courses, the starts, the results and best of all the handicaps!
We had racing fleet sizes of 8 or more boats throughout the Spring and Autumn. The Gortmore Bell had another great turnout of 34 boats. The last race of the year will be the ISC Perpetual Cup race on Oct 29th.
We would like to mention a special thanks to our sponsors Derg Marine, Euro-Marine Insurance and Condell Stationary who supported us so well again throughout the year.

Club Lift-Out

The ISC club lift-out has been arranged for Saturday Nov 4th.
The liftout charges have risen by another 10% this year. These are the ISC club lift-out rates for Nov 4th:

Winter Berth (Includes Lift and Clean) £220
Lift onto Own Trailer & Winter Storage: £220
Two mast steps (out & in) £35
Use of Hydraulic Trailer & Chocks £45
Storage of Trailer for 1999 Summer £35
Lift out other than Nov 4th date £15
Shop discounts of 10% for winter storage boats.

The following are the guidelines for the lift-out. Please comply with these guidelines to ensure optimum efficiency.

1) By Thursday, 2nd Nov, call Brian Griffin @ 331077 (H), 228430 (W), 229937 (Fax)
State whether a) Trailer b) Cradle c) Chocks
2) Ensure that trailer/cradle is ready in advance of lift-out to avoid crane delay.
3) Fill out declaration form and arrange payment on morning of Nov 4th.
4) Queue boat under crane in an orderly fashion.

Boats that need chocks or cradle will take more time so delays can be expected.
We ask for the usual co-operation and patience of members on the day.

Annual Dinner Dance

Our annual dinner dance will be on Nov 18th at Kincora Hall in Killaloe. Last year we had a capacity crowd and this year we expect a similar demand for tickets. Pat Mortell will again be our master of ceremonies for the evening. See attached circular.

Club Harbour

You will have noticed the much-improved lighting that was installed for the Autumn. Well done to Hugh McGrath for his valuable contributions to this.

There are many dinghies that appear to be ‘un-used’ and give our club park an appearance of a waste ground. Could all owners please identify their dinghies ASAP as we are planning on a clean-up/clear-out over the winter months.

The committee are proceeding with the building of a small Services Block in the club park at the Club, which include toilets and showers. We hope to proceed with the initial phase of the building before the end of the year.

Next years committee

This year we have been lucky to have had a very hard-working committee. Next year now beckons and the club will be busier than ever. If you can spare one evening a month, why not join us – we have lots of work that can only be done through voluntary efforts.

Club Draw

Last year we had a very successful club draw, which ran from June ’99 to May ’00. This allowed us to comfortably make our repayments on bank loans over the past year.

The committee have decided to re-run another draw in the Spring, which will start in February or March. We expect that you will be supportive of this effort again. If you find that you cant spare enough time to help out physically with committee work, maybe you would consider making a financial contribution through Club Draw or otherwise.
