Success in Cross Country races

The children from the school had a very successful day at the annual East Clare cross-country championships in Tulla on March 9th. Over 20 Mountshannon children took part and had a thoroughly enjoyable outing. Well done to all the competitors who braved the cold and completed the difficult course.

Pride of place goes to Michelle Carey who triumphed in the Over 11 girls race. Michelle won in convincing fashion and brought gold home to Mountshannon. Other girls finished creditably also, notably Rachel Bleach who was in 8th place behind Michelle.

In the boys division, Michael Dooley again brought honour to the school in the over 11 race by finishing in the bronze medal position.

All the children played their part in a great Mountshannon team effort. Thanks go also to Paddy Dooley, Mary Burke and Pauline Liddane who travelled on the bus and to Alan Howe who coordinated everything on the course.
