This beautiful building was erected around 1857, to replace the old St. Mary's Church which was by now unfit for use.Of particular interest in this church is a memorial to a former rector, Rev. William The o' Hanlon, an ancestor of whose is credited with giving to St. Patrick the site in Armagh for the erection of his first cathedral.

Christ Church, Innishannon, is part of the Bandon Union of Parishes.
