| 16. Emergency Contact Phone Number:
From time to time a child may get sick at school and may need to be sent home or to your childminder. If your day contact number has changed recently please inform the school immediately. 17(a). Health Promotion: As most of you are already aware, ours is a Health Promoting School.
Throughout the year we are aware of the health and happiness of all our
pupils. We also target specific areas e.g. healthy eating, being active,
cleanliness etc by organising projects and activities. We ask you to encourage your children to bring healthy lunches to school and to avoid Junk food as much as possible. Chewing gum, chocolate bars/sweets, crisps (of any kind), and fizzy drinks are not allowed. 17(C) Recycling Recycling of materials is now an important part of our lives. To promote
and encourage our children to recycle we have put the following in place: 18. Cookery: This year cookery will be part of the 5th class curriculum. Up to now cookery lessons have been very successful, thanks to the support and assistance of parents. This year, again, I will be enlisting the help of parents in these lessons. The success of these lessons depends on your participation. Your assistance will be much appreciated. I will be organising groups next week. 19. Sport: It is our intention to participate in school competitions in football, indoor hurling /football and hurling/camogie at various stages during the year. |
