Introduction:

The tumbling guidelines relate to runs for Introductory, Novice, and all NDP Levels 1, 2, 3 & 4.

Levels 5 & 6, Junior and Senior runs will be based on the FIG rules.

Generally:

A tumbling exercise is considered to have started when the first element has begun.

A tumbling run should be controlled, and maintaining speed of the approach run at minimum. A run should be increasing in speed

All tumble runs should be performed along the centre line of the tumbling track.

All tumble runs must be performed as written in the text, and no deviation, extra steps, additions will be accepted.

Run Up:

The run up comprises of 1 - 5 steps. This number should not be exceeded, as to do so will impede the run and will incur a deduction. The run should be controlled and should not exceed the speed at which the gymnast can safely perform the tumble run.

Tumbling Elements:

Tumbling elements will be judged individually taking into account take-off, position/flight and landings. The horizontal speed of the run should not be slower than the approach run.

Landings:

In all cases, the landings must be still, and in some cases of the set runs a rebound jump is allowed at the end of a run due to the nature of the last element. All runs should land and finish with both feet together and the tumbler should remain still for 3 secs, or there will be a deduction of 0.2.
