The World Sports Acrobatics Championships
Ghent, Belgium, 1999
This year, the World Championships were held in Belgium. The city of Ghent, see pics, held host to all competing acrobats, all coaches and delegates for all countries. The two IBIS hotels, cathedral and opera, hosted all the competing acrobats and was situated in the centre of this beautiful city.
The practice sessions began on Wednesday 3rd November, click here to see pics, and continued on Thursday morning. Then the opening ceremony, see pics, began at 19:30 and concluded with the preliminaries of mixed pairs tempo, mens balance and womens pairs balance. The following day concluded all preliminaries. .
The Finals began on Friday evening and concluded Sunday Evening with the medal presentation, see pics, and then a gala event.
