santry Kicked of by Deirdre Kelleghan and Val Dunne on Thursday July 20th 2006 in the TLC Care Centre in Northwood, Santry, Dublin.

Introducing Our Solar System was presented to 20 spirited folk (at right) and their nurses at this very comfortable care home. The men and women of TLC enjoyed a presentation that took them from the beginning of time and space through our solar system, visiting planets old and new with the latest images provided by the many robot explorers on missions of discovery.

The following are just some of the places we have been to since then:

November 8th 2006 in St Peter's National School, Greenhills, Walkinstown, Dublin 12. Two classes - 5th and 6th - with 50 children aged between 9-12 attended.

On 27th November 2006 a talk was given to St Andrews College Junior School in Blackrock, Co Dublin.

omar scouts On February 9th 2007 some 200 children and their teachers enjoyed an presentation by Deirdre Kelleghan on Cassini and the Solar System and the Saturn Observation Campaign. Posters, solar system sets and bookmarks were given to the teachers and pupils. Shown here is pupil Omar (at right) and his wonderful drawings of Saturn. Attached photo (far right) is of the 51st Bray Cub Scouts and their leaders in their Den at Bray Harbour, Co Wicklow. Deirdre Kelleghan did a solar system presentation with emphasis on our sun, plus a first showing of the film Cosmic Collisions as part of International Heliophysical Year connected with Sun-Earth Day 2007.

A talk on the Solar System plus showing of Cosmic Collisions with 3-D Sun image from the STEREO satellite for 50 children and their minders at Kimmage Manor, Dublin 12 was given by Deirdre on July 3rd 2007.

bridgefoot st Deirdre continued to do outreach to over 450 children and adults in Summer Projects in Dublin city centre and surrounding areas during July 2007. Dylan and David (at right) enjoy a 3-D view of the sun in Hydrogen-Alpha at the Bridgefoot St., Dublin Summer Project.

cork cork In Blackrock Castle Observatory, Cork Deirdre ran a sketching presentation for children called "Deadly Moons". Enceladus plumes were sketched by several children in pastels on black paper, some children sketched Atlas, some invented their own moons.

We had a lot of fun enjoying and understanding moons , including our own moon and its phases.
