Sector Delegates meet with Directors of Works May 20th.

In the Augustinian Centre at "Orlagh", overlooking a rain-swept city of Dublin the Delegates and Directors from the 7 sectors of our Jesuit mission in Ireland gathered to plan another year's work. It was a happy meeting for familiar companions and a surprise for some new. Eugene Quinn and Pádraic Naughton knew they worked with the Jesuits thanks to a nodding acquaintance on the steps in Sherrard St.. But to meet up as Directors of the CFJ and the PTAA filled in the gaps. And acronyms are a problem when you're taking up work with the Society or so said Garry O'Sullivan the new Director of the JCC. For the incoming Headmaster at Belvedere College, Gerard Foley, there seems a lot to learn about Ignatian ethos. However the meeting opened up a broader view of the Province's mission and participants spotted opportunities for cross-sectoral cooperation: all good fruits of a long but satisfying day.

This bodes well for the Province Assembly Day on Sat. June 7th. where it is hoped to have similar amalgam of information, support and links forged over a wide spectrum of Jesuit and Lay work.

Glossary of terms in the above:
Sector = area of like apostolates/ministries e.g. Education, Social
Delegate= Person who has an overview of the sector and helps keep the Provincial Team appraised.
Director of Work= Person in charge of a particular work e.g. Headmaster
CFJ= Centre for Faith and Justice
PTAA= Pioneer Total Abstinence Association
JCC= Jesuit Communications Centre
