Athletics in James's Street CBS
By J. Devilly.
The boys of James's street have taken an active part in cross country, track
and field events for many years now. It is an excellent form of recreation and the boys enjoy it a lot. Many of the boys are members of athletic clubs outside the school and they always do well in their events. Others just love to take part, especially in the team events. All the cross country events take place during the winter months which often means that the conditions underfoot can be muddy and wet. The track and field events take place from late April to June and generally we get some beautiful sunny days. The cross country events usually take place in the Phoenix Park while the all Ireland event can occur in various parts of the country. The track and field events take place in the Morton Stadium in Santry and the All Ireland in Tullamore.
We have had many successes in the past but some of the more notable ones
are:
Donal O'Sullivan Leinster & All Ireland cross country champion.
Anthony DohertyLeinster & All Ireland 800m champion at Junior and
Intermediate levels.
All Ireland cross country champion at junior and
intermediate level. |
