The decoy pattern is of utmost importance as it is your tool to attract the birds  within range. Its position and lay-out, if correct,  will give sporting shots where you want them. The centre of each pattern ( killing ground ) is approx. 25 metres from the hide.

The decoys must always be placed in a U or V shaped pattern facing into the wind, and wide enough to allow birds to land confidently and comfortably, without arousing suspicion.

Four patterns are illustrated and they consist of:

Pattern 1:  A simple pigeon decoy pattern with wind:   (a) left to right,   and   (b) at an angle to the hide

Pattern 2:  A pigeon decoy pattern using: (a) a pigeon  magnet,  plus (b)  lander (floater)  and flapper.

Pattern 3:  A decoy pattern , as in pattern 2,  plus crow, magpie and greycrow decoys

Pattern 4:  Crow decoying using:   (a)  bird of prey decoys,   and   (b) stuffed animal decoys
