Pupil Personal Accident Insurance
Every year an estimated 16,00 children receive hospital treatment following an accident in school, on the road or at home. For many parents / guardians, heavy medical / dental expenses have to be paid. In recognition of this, Church and General have arranged a specific pupil personal accident policy for the pupils, providing cover an a 24 hour basis both whilst the pupil is at school and during leisure hours. The cost per child is 8 euro. Last year the Parents' Association organized the administration of the scheme and they are planning to repeat the process again for the next school year. Attached to this newsletter, you will find details of the scheme and how to apply. Payments for insurance cover will be taken in conjunction with book bill payments on the above days if required.
Sanction of Additional Teaching Post
We are pleased to inform you that the Department of Education and Science has sanctioned the appointment of an additional permanent teaching post to ensure that no mainstream class is larger than 20 children approx. Accordingly, it is proposed to re-organise the present Junior Infant classes to create an additional Senior Infant class for September, resulting in 4 Senior Infant classes of around 16/17 pupils. As Senior Infants is a particularly important year for the development of early literacy and number skills, this will provide a great opportunity for all the pupils concerned. The parents / guardians of Senior Infant children will be informed of the new arrangements shortly.
The following classes will go on school tour over the next week:
Junior Infants: Friday 20th of June. Tivoli Theatre, Francis Street, to see the show
"Adventures in Astonishment"
Senior Infants: Tuesday 24th of June. Dublin Zoo.
Second Class: Wednesday 25th of June. Larchill Farm and Gardens.
Gaelic coaching for this school year ended on Monday 16th of June, with a training session from Dublin footballer, Jim Gavin. He spent an hour coaching the children and he was very impressed with their Gaelic skills.
Twenty four 2nd class pupils will be going down to the Community Centre this coming Friday, 20th to participate in a Primary Schools' Competition being run by the G.A.A. Round Towers Club. Parents / family are invited to attend.
Time: 10.45am - 1.00pm
We wish the children the best of luck on Friday.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the coaches Miss Corbett, Mr. Traynor, Miss Morris and Miss Holton for giving so generously of their time every Monday over the past school year.
