Thomas McAuley’s DeLorean

 

Here are my car details:

Year: 1981

Vin: 4087 (September build-I also found a sticker in the trunk with the date 22-09-81)

Hood: Grooves, no gas flap

Transmission: Manual (was automatic)

Interior: Black

 

I bought it on Ebay in 2004 when I was 16 for $7,600. It was located in Laredo, Texas. I bought it as a project car, so it was a non-runner, but thanks to Paul O'Malley, it is now a runner!

The automatic gearbox was dying when we got it, due to previous owners trying to drive it with no oil in the gearbox. So, we drove to Paul to have a gearbox change, and instead he talked me into converting it to a manual. He is almost finished that conversion now, and once the new drivers door is on, I should have it back.

I still have LOADS to do to the car (all cosmetic), but that’s why I bought it. All the hard work and money spending is worth it when you get to drive them on the road, and the meet-ups with other owners are definitely the highlight of owning the De Lorean.
