Super Prokarts have one Honda GX620 (pull or electric start) engine mounted
on the rear right handside of the kart. Standard Honda airbox and
carburettor must be used, and no race engineering of engine is allowed.
Engines are also sealed. Super Prokarts are a fixed gear design and the rear cog needs to be changed to suit the characteristics of the particular track you are racing on. It is highly recommended that you do NOT rev the engine above 5300 RPM or you are likely to cause damage. Super Prokarts use Vega W2 tyres in the wet, and Maxxis HG3 for dry tracks. Speeds can approach 90mph on faster tracks. Motorsport Ireland approved safety gear and helmet must be used. Typical expenditure for a whole year's racing (including race fees and assuming you don't break anything) will likely be €3000 or less. |
