I painted this, my second painting, on the same day as the first, the 7th August 2005.
Like the first one, I had to rescue it from being stuck on some laminate flooring to frame it.
Again, it has a funeral connection. We had been to Cornwall in February to bury my Aunt Beryl. I loved the wild and rocky North Coast and had taken some photos. So, I took out the photos and simply copied one that I particularly liked, to see if I could get the hang of painting scenery.
Afterwards, I was impressed with the similarity to the first picture: the overall shape of the clouds in the first picture is similar to the shape of the ground in this one, and they are both set off against deep blue backgrounds.
Despite the matte varnish, the glare of the camera flash has spoiled much of the sea in this photo.
