At this stage, I felt that I had got the steam out of my system about the wheat fields and wanted to move on to something fresher before I became a 'wheat bore'. So, we took off in the camper van for a tour round the North-West of Ireland for a week or so, coming back through Glendalough.
I was delighted with Glendalough. It is not over-managed and you are free to wander round at your leisure, or to visit the visitors center, or not, as you like. I loved the Celtic feel of the church there, which seemed filled with Celtic crosses and the distinctively Irish round tower.
