This is an apple tree that I planted last year, and this Autumn was the first time I saw fruit on it. I couldn't believe how red the apples are.
They really do look like this. To convince people, I took one of the apples with me when I exhibited the painting. It still had leaves on it and all. Even so, the first lady I handed it to said "Of course, it's a wax apple." I ended up letting someone eat it and feeling a bit like one of those horrible adverts demonstrating the latest miracle cleaner.

The apples were my version of still life. I've seen plenty of pictures of apples in bowls, and they always look a bit dry and stale, so I thought they would look crisper and juicier on the tree.
