Conference Pears   12" x 14"

Pears by John Penfold Ballyine Borris Ireland To go with the apples, I painted some pears. This variety is "Williams". They are the soft ones that you have to eat in a couple of days or they are over-ripe.

I thought that this picture would go very nicely with the apples in the previous picture, so I painted it 'landscape' (wider than it is tall) to contrast with the apples, which I painted 'portrait' (taller than wide).

I framed these paintings in a more contemporary style than the others so that they could suit a modern kitchen. Like all my paintings, they will withstand the steam and wear-and-tear and coffee splatters of a kitchen. I have demonstrated spilling coffee on the painting and mount, then wiping it off. Once again, I felt like one of those commercials for miracle cleaners.
