This coin is an Irish halfpenny of George II, struck in 1741 at the Royal Mint in London for export to Ireland.

This coin is typical of the type issued in 1741, 1742, 1743, 1744 and 1746. It has larger lettering than the 1736-1738 type and the 'U' in GEORGIUS (as opposed to a 'V') distinguishes it from the 1747-1753 type.

This coin is in Extremely Fine (EF) condition. It has only the slightest traces of wear on the high points of the detail - such as the curls on the bust and the head, shoulder and breast of the figure on the harp. However it does have some accumulation of old dirt around the legend and in the detail of the the design which will detract from its appeal and value.

These halfpennies are difficult to find in this condition, and examples with traces of original lustre (usually in the areas where this specimen has accumulated dirt!) are rare.
