Castleknock Celtic 2 Dunboyne 0
What a super game we were treated to in Porterstown as these sides again locked horns after finishing level in Dunboyne the previous week. It was nip and tuck all the way with Dunboyne matching Celtic in every department. But as the game progressed in the final quarter, it was Celtic who were looking the more likely. Garret Deasy went within a whisker after breaking through, only to be denied by a superb save by the advancing keeper. They ended normal time 0-0 and extra time was called.
With Celtic's superior stamina showing, they broke on the right hand side, and Daniel Reynolds, forever the tormentor of defences, passed back to Patrick Walters (photo across with keeper Conor Nealon), who rifled home from close range two minutes into the first period of extra time. The home side did not rest on their laurels, and were rewarded when Eoin Norton, the big bustling centre forward (reminding some of us of Eddie Bailham, of Shamrock Rovers fame in the 1960's), latched on to a chance close in, though his first shot was blocked, he seized on the rebound to slot home the insurance goal. We look forward to the final in a couple of weeks time.
Regrets for the poor clarity of team photo. Photographer was not on his game.
