Promotion virtually assured for 14A's to Dublin District Schoolboys League Major Division

Congratulations to Seamus McDermott and his troops who had a magnificent win over Ardmore in this top of the table clash in the 14A league.  Ardmore are near certain league winners, but Celtic needed to take full points to guarantee them promotion.  It has been a long season, and it was a tremendous bounce back for them after their 1-2 defeat away in Ballymun in mid-week, after which it had not looked good for their promotion chances.

Star of the day against Ardmore was Colin Murphy who helped himself to a brace of goals.  His partner in annihilation of opposition defences was Lorcan McCarthy, who got one goal.  The two had tormented the St Francis defence the previous week.  Cathal McDermott and Ian Denham completed the scoring for Celtic with a goal each.

This was a marvellous win for Celtic and a very important one.  It comes in a week when we have been reading about soccer, on the front instead of the back pages, for all the wrong reasons.
