Winning Start for Under-15As
Castleknock Celtic 2 Howth Celtic 1
There was a moment or two in this game when one feared that it might not be Castleknock's day. A dubious penalty in the first half awarded to Howth, if converted, could have put a different complexion on the game. But fortunately, it was missed. Then in the second half, another penalty was awarded, and this time it was scored to bring the sides level.
But the home side were disciplined and played good football, the preparatory pre-season training paid dividends. The sides finished level at half-time.
Castleknock were more focussed in the second half. They got their reward after ten minutes when Des Molloy latched onto a half volley, which he dispatched to the right hand corner of the net. 1-0.
Howth bounced back, and were level when they put away their penalty.
But that man again, Des Molloy, was on hand after good work from Philip Cooney and Brian Cummiskey, Des gave the home fans a great tonic when he put the home side in front again. And to be fair, they were good value for their winning lead. 2-1.
Jimmy Cummiskey was delighted with the team's performance, and particularly how they played their football. It is a great start for our U-15As, and hopefully augurs well for the future.
