Marvellous victory for U-12s in League Cup

Full credit to both sides for serving up a feast of entertaining football.  It looked ominous for Celtic when they conceded an early goal to the visitors.  But they bounced back when Chris Doherty broke through on the left and shot home.  1-1.

Celtic kept up the pressure, and were rewarded with a fine goal by Colin Dunne, who caught the ball on the volley as it came across the goal.  It remained 2-1 to the home side until half-time.

Malahide struck back, and they levelled matters at 2-2.  But Craig Dunne restored Celtic's lead when he seized on an opportunity.  It was a ding dong battle, up and down the pitch, with the outcome in doubt until Sean Rafter pounced.  First he tapped in from close range.  4-2.  Then late on, he hit a rasper into the bottom left hand corner.  5-2.

This was a great team performance, from Robert Murphy in goal, to the strikers up front.  The management team gave the man-of-the-match award to Tom Lenihan, although to be fair, it could have gone to many others on the team.
