U-12D Brenfer League

Castleknock Celtic  1  Swords Celtic  0

This was a tough battle between two evenly matched sides.  Castleknock had the best of the opening exchanges with Tom Mooney going close on two occasions before Paul Stanley was called upon to make a good save mid way through the half.

Despite trojan work by Oisin Hunt and James Collins in midfield and Carl Murtagh in defence it was still scoreless at half time.

Two minutes into the second half, a throw by Craig McGivern from the right found Gary Doyle unmarked and his cross was met by the in running Johnny Cooper on the edge of the box who gave the keeper no chance. 1 - 0 to Castleknock.

Over the next 15 minutes, the home team were well on top thanks to some excellent play by Graham Walsh in mid field and Colm Lyons and Kevin Millar in defence.

But the all important second proved elusive.  For the last 15 minutes, the introduction of Ross McCarthy and Michael Kennelly helped to steady things and despite one narrow miss by Swords with 10 minutes left, Castleknock held on for a narrow but well deserved win.
