Weekend Sat/Sun 11th/12th October 2003

11As give Baldoyle a lesson, with 5-0 win in Porterstown. Because ref did not turn up after his car was stolen, Baldoyle would not play for the points - smart lads.   11Bs started the day as joint leaders of the league with Marino. The game reflected the eveness of the teams.  Celtic were on the back foot in the first half as Marino piled on the pressure and hit the woodwork twice, but the hoops were well led by Ryan Hickey at the back.  The second half saw a change of fortune for Celtic.  Paul Mc Grath was again the marksman for Celtic when he put the home side ahead.  Marino had taken full points from their opening two games.  They were now under heavy pressure, and Paul Conway and David Cummins brought out two superb saves from the Marino keeper.  The Celtic back four were superb; Ryan Hickey,  and his partner, Fintan Brown, Conor O'Riordan, and the cultured Ian Martin.  To be fair, when Marino levelled it, it was no more than they deserved, taking the whole game into account.  Celtic however went mighty close to taking the three points.  David Cummins hit a shot that everyone thought had to hit the net, but man of the match, Marino keeper, took off a superb stop.  Result 1-1.  Well done to both teams who served up a real feast. Thank you boys. 12Bs have easy 7-0 win over Swords Rovers in Porterstown, with goals from Graham Walsh, Garry Doyle, a couple from Oisin Hunt, and a super hat-trick by Johnny Cooper.  13As Ricky Flanagan is back  in full flow after his injury which had kept him out. His hat-trick, and goals from Chris Hoey, and Barry McKiernan, gave Celtic a 5-2 away win in Oscar Traynor Road against Kilmore Boys.  16Major DDSL hammer Ballybrack 6-1 in SFAI Barry Cup.  Lorcan McCarthy was superb, as he helped himself to four, including a lob from 35 metres, another he took on his chest before smashing it home.  Cathal McDermott and Ciaran Carr completed the scoring for Celtic.

17As DDSL team continue their winning run with comfortable 5-1 win over Verona in Porterstown. Simon Fleming hits a super hat-trick, with Adam O'Callaghan and Paul Murray getting the other goals.

14As win 3-1 against Howth Celtic in friendly played in Laurel Lodge. 15Ds team have hard earned draw at home to Malahide Utd. New local ref Luigi Annarumma was the centre of controversy when he awarded Celtic a penalty in the final minutes, which was converted by Ciaran Egan, coolest man on the pitch. 2-2 result.  Highlight of the game was a smashing individual goal from Paddy Troy, who beat his marker in the right hand corner, moved inside, and unleashed a tremendous shot into the Malahide net.  Malahide may hear further from authorities following their misbehaviour after the game.    18Major DDSL team go down 5-1 away to Doddervale Utd in Bushy Park.
