8As lose by slightest margin : Match of the day click

13As maintain their 100% home record with 5-0 win over Grangewoodbine, to go top of the league.  Fran O'Donnell struck after 9 mins.  Their advantage was doubled with an own goal after 29 mins.  The second half saw Celtic continue their superiority. Darren Doddy hit the third on 46 mins.  Ricky Flanagan was again on the mark for the fourth. Then in the dying seconds, Eoghan Furlong made it 5-0 with an absolute rasper from a 25 metres free kick.  Gerard Farrelly was the man of the match.  15As go out of SFAI cup after 3-2 defeat at home in Porterstown.  Celtic had gone into early lead through a disputed penalty taken by Ciaran Finn.  Walshestown hit back when Paul McGeough equalised. John Moriarty hit number 2 for Celtic, but it was all square at half time after Sean Geaney got the visitors' second. To be fair, the County Louth side looked the stronger in the second half, and it was no surprise that they were the ones to go ahead late on when they were given a hotly disputed penalty. Some of the Celtic faithful could not believe the decision.  Mark Dunne stepped up and shot high into the net to give Walshestown their place in the next round.

12As ease their way into next round of Norton SFAI Cup on raw autumn morning in Porterstown.  Paul Hunt and Cillian Brophy both hit a couple, while Stephen Smartt and Michael Gateley scored the others, in a  comfortable 6-0 win over Bay FC from Dundalk.

Pat Smyth, manager of the 12Fs, was delighted with his team as they took full points from this league game against Dunboyne, thanks to a double strike from Dave Farrell.

16Bs have to share the points against Drumcondra 2-2 draw in Porterstown.  Jason Jewel got the first, followed by Mark McLoughlin's strike.  Umberto Oddel recently signed from Deportivo in Spain was desperately unlucky when he just failed to catch the Drums keeper out with a wonderful chip. Umberto was given the nod for man of the match.

18Major DDSL team lose by the odd goal in three, after Eoin Atkinson had put Celtic ahead against the visitors Dundrum Athletic in their game in Laurel Lodge.

18/10/03 : No joy for  AUL Div2 team as they lose out 0-2 away to Whitestown in Jim Cullen Cup.

AUL Div2A team have hard earned share of the points away to Virginians in league.  Eoin Conway got the first, Darragh Wylie got the second with a beauty from 25 metres, and a late equaliser from Kevin Behan with a thunderbolt strike from all of 30 metres.  It is great to see so many of Celtic's schoolboys emerging on the senior teams, and one of them Darragh Wylie was man of the match.

Result of the Day : 19/10/03

Dunboyne 0  Castleknock Celtic 2

Congratulations to U-14As who defeated their arch rivals Dunboyne FC in the SFAI Goodson Cup away in Co Meath. Celtic's first was a gem from Philip Carroll, who took the ball to the left hand side of the box, and curled the ball around the advancing keeper into the far corner of the net.  The second came from a beautiful dipping 25 metre shot from Nathan Clarke.  This victory was all the sweeter given Celtic's squad was depleted with four injuries, but the depth of the squad saw them through.  Well done to John O'Reilly, team coach, who has put a lot of effort into developing his players against the odds, including the departure of some high profile players.
