Weekend Sat/Sun 28/29 February 2004

U-10Bs took full points in their home fixture against Trinity Sports & Leisure on a beautifully sunny morning in Porterstown.  On the mark for Celtic in the 2-1 win were Sean Irwin and Eoin Hanlon

Having gone behind to the visiting St Martins Boys by 4-2 in Laurel Lodge, Jim Kennelly's 12D team made an heroic recovery with a brace for Craig McGivern, and a superb hat-trick from Johnny Cooper.  5-4 surely qualifies for the result of the day.

14As All-Ireland dream ended in Galway against Mervue Utd.  Despite going 1-0 up inside five minutes through a marvellous 25 metre free kick into the top corner, they fell behind after 20 minutes, and eventually went down 4-1 to the westerners.  The trip to the City of the Tribes was just a step too far.

Peter Hoey's 13As were comfortable winners over Artane Beaumont FC in this third round Joe Kirby Cup encounter.  The first half was close, and Celtic were somewhat fortunate to be 1-0 ahead at half-time, thanks to their keeper, Aaron Hasani, who took off a superlative save. The home side's goal came from Darren Doddy who scored after 23 minutes.  The second half was very different.  The reliable Chris Hoey struck on 33 minutes from 25 metres to give the visiting keeper no chance.  Ricky Flanagan was on the mark with his own strike on 37 minutes.  3-0.  Then in the final minutes, Gerard Farrelly found the net to give the scoreline a respectable look. 4-0.  Roll on the quarter final, and do I smell Silvo?

AUL Div2A suffered a serious setback to their title ambitions, when they went down 3-1 to McKelvey Celtic in Porterstown.
