Celtic Under-8Bs Back on Track
Castleknock Celtic 3 Malahide Utd 1
Supporters
of this Under 8 Team were treated to a cracker of a match on a fine sunny
morning in Porterstown. Matches
between these two teams have always been close and this one was no exception.
It
was even steven in the first quarter until Ryan Moore broke through a resolute
Malahide defence. Ryan floated a
peach of a ball into the top right hand corner.
Celtic
increased the pressure after the break. Cian
Anderson won the ball outside the Malahide box.
He found Luke Henshaw, who
charged at the United defence. Luke
exchanged passes with Ryan who finished it off to make it two. Luke played a
blinder throughout the game.
A
dilemma faced, manager, David Fogarty at half time … should he take off three
of his strongest players for the coming quarter or leave it to the final ten
minutes. He opted for the former
and his decision was justified. The
team rose to the occasion and played out of their socks to defend sustained
attacks from Malahide. United
sneaked a goal just before the break.
The
final ten minutes was a ding dong affair with end to end action from both sides.
Just before the final whistle Tom Fogarty completed the scoring.
It
was a tremendous performance by both teams and a pleasure to watch.
The fighting spirit of this under 8 team was a sight to behold ….
heroes, one and all.
Luke
Henshaw was nominated man of the match.
