Grace
O’Malley Park was the venue for the latest exploits of the 9A’s. The team
looked class in their new gear which was completed with
tracksuit tops, each with players initials.
Castleknock
dominated the first quarter and opened the scoring with a fine interchange of
passes between Ryan Moore Kearney and Phillip Fitzpatrick, culminating in
Phillip slipping the ball past the ‘keeper.
After
the break ,Howth were playing with the wind
and exerted tremendous pressure on the Celtic. Eoghan O’Donuchu and Dan
Ring stood resolute in defence and took no prisoners. All the team played their
hearts out to keep Howth at bay! A certain goal opportunity
was snuffed out by a magnificent challenge by Eoghan .
Castleknock
took advantage of the wind in the third quarter. Eoin Sweeney’s long
clearances paid dividends . It was from one of his kick-outs that Patrick Rocca
headed on to an awaiting Eoghan. He pounced on it and buried the ball past the
approaching ‘keeper. It was an opportunist goal ……..something like
‘Bomber Liston’ might have done …or so said the ecstatic Kerryman on the
sideline.
Castleknock
controlled the final quarter and could have scored a couple more goals. This was
a wonderful performance from an ever improving side where all the squad give a
wholehearted effort in playing and most of all, enjoying the challenge.
