Castleknock
had all guns blazing in their encounter with Ratoath Harps. They opened their
account after two minutes, when Patrick Rocca passed to Ryan Moore Kearney to
slot home. Following a throw-in, Ryan and Phillip Fitzpatrick interchanged
neatly, allowing Ryan to solo through the defence and bury the ball past the
‘keeper. Tom Fogarty played his heart out and made many vital tackles in
defence, midfield and attack.
After
the first break Eve Farrelly took a quick throw–in to Eoghan O’Donuchu who
planted a defence splitting pass to the feet of Phillip. He nearly broke the net
with his finish. Eve was involved in the build-up of the next goal. She stood
resolutely against a Rathoath attack, won the ball and passed to Dan Ring. Dan
found Eoghan who set Phillip on his way who scored number four. Luke
Henshaw,Tom and Patrick were all involved in the next goal. Patrick’s long
strides proved too much for the home defence as he notched up number five.
Phillip completed his hat-trick for number six.
Ryan
hit a beautiful shot from the right
corner of the box that the ‘keeper could only get the tips of his fingers to,
as it sailed into the back of the net. It was poetic justice that the final goal
was scored by Danny Byrne. He had played another blinder and is the most
improved player on this team.
Overall
it was an excellent team performance with two hat-trick heroes, Ryan and
Phillip.
