Castleknock Celtic  3    Meath Rangers  1

DDSL 17 Major

This was always going to be a tough one, and so it proved.  There was little to choose between the sides at half time. Celtic went 1-0 up in the first half through Gary Devaney.  But Rangers struck back just before the break to leave it 1-1 at half time.

It was still 1-1 on 20 minutes into the second half, when Gary Devaney struck to put Celtic in front.  Ciaran O'Donoghue was just wide with his effort on 30 minutes.  And he was again on hand to set up the insurance 3rd goal, when he sent a lovely ball through to Ciaran O'Donoghue, who raced into the box, and rifled home past the oncoming keeper - superb goal.

Davy O'Connor had just come on in the second half when a Ranger tried to take him out of it, but the visitor managed to do himself more damage, necessitating his departure from the field of play.  Dave later received a ball on the left hand side, and with an amazing volley, he put his fellow striker, Gary Devaney, through, but this time Gary was unable to put it away.

This was a refreshing performance by the Celtic boys, and follows their strong showing last week against Ballyfermot Utd, whom they beat 3-2.  Man of the match went to Keith English.
