5/3/05:AUL Div2A Because Sheriff Utd played an ineligible player in the Jim Cullen Cup, Celtic have been reinstated and played East Wall Utd in the Qtr Final on Sat. 5th March.And what a result against East Wall, 1-0, with Martin Fleming on the mark, when he hooked a volley over the keeper after 10 mins, after good work by Deco Cunningham. It was tight game. Celtic survived a scare on 40 mins, and weathered a storm at the start of the second half. Man of match was Charlo Heneghan, though he was pressed for the award by the 2 Shanes, Hennessy and Geraghty, who put in a very solid performance. They proceed into Semi-Final, chasing the treble, but they next play our Div2 side in the Quarter Final of the Elastoplast Cup on 12th March. Busy times for Celtic. Div2 side went down 2-1 v. Valley Celtic in the League, having had 2 players hospitalised, and another sent off for a double-yellow. |
6/3/05 : 18Premier put one over the local rivals, Verona, in dour struggle in Porterstown. Celtic, who are the only unbeaten side in their league, were rarely threatened, but 1-0 was always a very narrow margin, and Verona could have stolen a share of the points towards the end, but Mark Moore was equal to the task. Adam O'Callaghan was the man in the right spot at the right time, when Simon Fleming's corner was headed home by the prolific striker - see photo. |
6/3/05 : 12Premier escape with a point at home to Shelbourne in a very close contest, thanks to an OG. 1-1. 11B have great 1-0 win away to Dunshaughlin. Davy Barnes was deadly in goal. Paul McGrath was the marksman of the day. And Sean Hanlon was awarde the man of the match by team coach, Mr Martin. 12C earn 1-1 home draw with Willows FC, with the help of Mark Lyons' strike. 14C are too strong for St Mochtas in local derby, with Celtic winning comfortably by 4-2. 16A hold on for 2-2 draw at home to Leicester Celtic, a fair result in the circumstances. DDSL17Major have fine 3-2 away to Ballyfermot Utd, with Gary Deveney helping himself to a superb double, and a beautifully taken goal from Frank Kiernan. New boy Tommy McElroy did well on his debut in goal. 14D go down 1-2 at home to Howth Celtic. 13B cruise to 4-0 victory away to Artane Beaumont in the league. |
