Castleknock Celtic   5   Ashbourne Utd  1

Castleknock’s under-11B team got back to winning ways with a good 5-1 win over Ashbourne on a drizzly Sunday morning in Porterstown. Eoin Graham was in lively form from the start and opened the scoring with a well taken effort after 10 minutes. Ashbourne had a couple of good early chances but man-of-the-match Conor McDonald was in superb form in the middle of the defence. Eoin Haughton proved to be a thorn in the side of Ashbourne defence throughout the match. He scored 2 goals and might have had a few more but for a couple of great saves by the Ashbourne keeper.

Fionn Rogers controlled the game in the middle of the park, spraying some excellent passes out wide to the front men and putting in some great tackles whenever the opposition threatened the Castleknock goal. He rounded off a commanding performance with a well taken goal in the middle of the 2nd half. However Castleknock saved their best goal till the last. Ten minutes from time, Thomas Healy collected the ball out wide on the left side of the pitch. He then went on a mazy run, leaving 5 defenders in his wake before slotting the ball into the corner of the Ashbourne net. The win gives the team renewed confidence before their next game against Dunshaughlin on Friday 22nd.
