The Under 10B team celebrated their first home match in style with a powerful performance against local rivals, Huntstown. It was not long before Kieth Farrell notched up the first of his goals. It started with Eve Farrelly winning the ball in midfield, passing to Jack Kennedy who laid a lovely ball off to Keith. His shot was too hot to handle. The ball was only parried by the keeper and went over the line. Jack and Kieth exchanged passes for his second. Two nil at half-time.

Kieth was really on fire today and he completed his hat-trick just after the break.

Ronan McCabe came on after 20 minutes and immediately made his presence felt in midfield with clever distribution and hard tackling. Ronan received the ball outside the box from a long pass by Kieth and hit a stinging shot past the ‘keeper. Huntstown replied with their only goal. Ronan cleared the ball out of defence to Senan Warnock, who buried it into the top of the net. Eve was trying to get her name on the scoresheet and she ran at the defence and beat three defenders but her shot was saved by the ‘keeper. The ball came out to Ronan who slipped it to Eoin Newman and he completed the scoring for number six. It was a wonderful team performance and played in great spirit by both teams.

Even at this early stage in the season, the team are gelling together very well and they all gave 100% effort. Compliments must be paid to the management team. It was plain to see that the coaching in mid-week was paying dividends.
