Castleknock Celtic 2 Ballymun Utd 2
The 9B team had a battle on their hands this week at Porterstown Park with only 7 players available against a competitive Ballymun Utd side.
Castleknock started the first quarter well and came close in the first couple of minutes and had a few opportunities on goal in the first quarter with nothing to show for their efforts. Ballymun having found their rhythm converted an opportunity and then scored a second goal from a well worked one-two before half time.
The Castleknock players' heads never went down though and they battled hard to get back into the game. Bilal Mu'Azzam and Glen Foran came close from crosses from Ryan O'Neill. The defensive partnership of Stephen Kavanagh and Edwina Naughton held firm in the second half and Oisin Zambra made one of the saves of the season tipping the ball over the bar.
Castleknock finally scored a well deserved goal when Ryan O'Neill crossed in to Glen Foran whose shot was saved first time but converted from the rebound. Ciaran Fay almost had his first of the season but his shot was cleared off the line. Glen Foran finally got the equaliser and his second with a powerful shot from the edge of the box to the right corner. The matched finished 2-2, and Castleknock won a well deserved point.
Conor O'Neill, team
manager, was full of praise for each of his players, who
despite being short of their full squad, managed to share
the points.
