Fine Win for U-14s in League

Castleknock Celtic  3    Malahide Utd  2

This was a very even game which might have ended with a share of the points.  But Celtic took their chances and earned full points for their efforts on this glorious May morning in Porterstown.

Celtic conceded an early goal following some sloppy defending.  They struck back however with a goal from mid-fielder Craig Dunne, who slid home the equaliser.

After the break, Celtic began brightly.  Cillian Quinn made it 2-1 with his effort.  He had tormented the United defence in the first half and this was just reward for his skilful work.  Craig Dunne made it 3-1 with a headed goal, which is as rare as a No.5 bus on Bulfin Road.

Celtic looked out of sight at this stage.  But some careless defending let them back into it, and gave rise to nervous late moments.  Their anxiety reached fever-pitch when in the dieing minutes United were awarded a penalty by local ref Terry Lawless, and we wondered had his hair got in his eyes!  Only joking Terry.  But man-of-the-match Sean Caffrey, the Celtic keeper, saved brilliantly to give the home side the 3 points.
