MANCHESTER UNITED TRIP FOR CELTIC

Theatre of Dreams

Castleknock Celtic U-11 Premier side visited Old Trafford on Tues, 22nd May.  They then went on to United's training ground in Carrington, where they were given full training session with the best coaches from Old Trafford.  Finally, they climaxed the day with their challenge game with St Joseph's Sallynoggin. The match finished 1-1, with Celtic's goal beautifully struck from edge of the box by Conor Byrne.  Brian Slevin had cleverly flicked the ball onto Conor's left peg, which found the back of the Joey's net.  Joeys deservedly struck back, to take the game to a penalty shoot-out.

Celtic were the first to get their noses in front in the penno showdown.  But Joeys fought back and they looked the more likely to take the winners trophy, but Matthew Dunn dived to save and give Celtic a lifeline. But Matthew unfortunately broke his wrist in the dive.  Paddy Dunne took over between the sticks.  And he saw Celtic through to a penalty shoot-out victory when Joeys missed their final 2 penalties.

A memorable day was had by all, and one the boys will cherish.
