12D North Dublin League clash ends with honours even

This was a marvellous advertisement for the best in schoolboy football. It swung from end to end, with goals a plenty, and excitement by the bucket-load. Portmarnock had their man of the match in two goal hero, Andrew Brant, helped by Matthew Martin who scored the seasiders' other goal (photo across).  

But Celtic had their own man of the match in Conor Whelan who got a couple.  Celtic left it very late to earn a draw, when Whelan broke free on the left and whipped in a fine left-footed cross for super-sub Mark Butcher to strike home the equaliser in cool fashion. And we were all very thankful to the two teams for serving up a treat of competitive football on this beautiful 'summer' morn in Porterstown.
