"Fokker D7" (By Alan Forrest)
The Fokker D7 has taken me a over a year to get round to finishing off, I'm pleased to say that I'm almost there, a very pleasing model but an absolute animal to set up correctly, Zero degrees, plus nothing, minus one took a lot of work, I'm now ready to complete the radio installation.
Weather permitting (cough, cough) it will take to the air (hopefully) this weekend.
"Giles 202" (By James Lennon)
The
"120 Size" Giles from Flair is certainly one of the nicest ARTF's
to put together, with a little help from Alan I put it together in a day
and two evenings, I am now awaiting delivery of a new OS 91 and an "In
Cowl" silencer from "Just Engines" then it's just a matter
of installing the engine and completing the radio installation before
I head for the flying field.
The quality of the build is acceptable and the covering extremely good,
certainly this is a lot of model for my hard earned cash, my thanks to
Alan for his time and assistance, also to David for aquiring the kit and
engine for me. Now for some aerobatic practice!!
" PT 19" (By Alan Forrest)
Two
seat American trainer, the original had a nasty habit of turning over
when the brakes were applied on landing.
This is the Hanger 9 version of this famous aeroplane.
An expensive ARTF which requires more than a little care in assembly and
a fair bit of modification, the instructions state that with a Saito 150
about six ounces of tail weight will be required to maintain the C of
G, I took great care to keep the front end light and guess what... mine
needed about four ounces of weight... In the nose!!
"Madness" (By Alan Forrest)
Arguably the best A.R.T.F. (cough - cough) on the market today, designed by Christophe Pasant - Le Roux and manufactured by Z.N. Line. Interesting radio set up with lots of features such as flaperons and twin elevator servo's etc.
The quality of this model has to be seen to be believed!! however the lightness of the finished model is achieved with some sacrifice to the strength of the structure, will have to be a little careful over the clubs field when the grass is a bit long!!

Modeltech's "Dragon Lady" 40 (By Alan Forrest)
This
"Almost ready to Cover" offering from YT International, is certainly
one of the nicest built ARTC models I have come across, I built the larger
version over ten years ago, powered by a Saito twin, that flew rather
well too!!
This cannot be described as a beginners model, the instructions and pictures
leave a lot to be desired, having said that, if you have built a couple
of models before you will have few problems, the quality of the wood and
building is commendable, the model flew perfectly on its first outing
and looks great in the air. This model (with recommended control throws)
is virtually vice free!!
Details: Engine: OS52 Four Stroke..Radio: JR3810 ADT.. Servo's: JR 591.. Covering: Solarfilm..
Avicraft's "Panic" (By Alan Forrest)
The
Panic was designed by Phillip Newman who died in a tragic accident four
years ago. This model has been the "standard" club model in
England for over fifteen years!!
I was lucky enough to see the original first flights of the prototype.
Some of you may have seen the Avicraft "Panic Team" in action,
the sight of twenty or so models in the air at Sandown and other shows
is not to be missed.
My
model has coupled flaperons/elevator and is set up basically the same
as the team models.
"Funkey" CAP 232 (For Dave Furneaux by Alan Forrest)
Without
doubt the best ARTF I have put together, apart from minor changes to the hardware
supplied and a very loose fitting wing joiner, the model goes together very
well.
I'm waiting to see this model fly, if it goes as well as it looks I shall
build one for myself. The Funkey range is not cheap by any means but the quality
of the build commands the high price.
Now we
have to wait yet once again for some decent flying weather to see how she
goes.
"Funkey" Giles G-300 (By Alan Forrest)
Yet another "Funkey" model, this time considerably more difficult to assemble than the CAP due to the way in which the tail "Feathers" are attached. Considerably lighter than the CAP this should be a real animal aerobatic wise with the OS91 installed. Dave's CAP has not flown yet so the debut of both models may well be on the same day. Look out James, here we come. Catch us... If you can!
"Radar" Zen 30 (By Alan Forrest)
Well, I thought the "Funkey" kits were good but this one takes the prize, everything about this ARTF was superb, even the holes for the control horns were pre drilled beneath the film covering. I'm not really into pattern ships but I am really looking forward to flying this one. I would certainly recommend this model to anyone looking for exceptional quality in ARTF.
